The Passion of the Christ | Ciro's art renditions

Yesterday, I was looking around for some Arte Sacra (Sacred Art) made by Ciro just in time for the celebration of the Holy week. I was intending to find crosses and the like but I was surprised to have stumbled upon a set of artworks titled Passione di Christo (Passion of the Christ).

Finding these photos in the archives felt like digging a treasure chest :)

In this set of artworks, Ciro told me that he wanted to depict Christ's passion by using zappe (hoes). These agricultural tools, combined with nails, wires, bolts, washers, and others; effectively depicts that which Jesus went through.

You may scroll through these photos and share them to your friends to set the atmosphere of solemnity in this season of Lent.

Have a solemn and reflective celebration of Lent everyone.

5 things I have learned from Ciro

1. See beauty in everything, even in the ugliest things.
  • Spending time with Ciro has always amazed me, he turns trash to treasure. He has this Midas Touch that turns old to gold.  Every now and then we go to heaps of refuse that have thousands of things in them. Ciro chooses things that can be transformed into something new. Recycling and Reusing things has always been his forte. It is amazing how his eyes have been accustomed to seeing beauty - it's a good thing to remember because we often focus on the bruto (ugly) parts of life.
  • Oftentimes, we also visit the nearby Arno river to scour for drift wood. These (sometimes) rotting logs, branches, and twigs still are useful for Ciro. By some sort of magic and technical expertise, Ciro brings these dead pieces of wood to life! (I was telling him that he might be the real Dr. Frankenstein, and he rolls his eyes!) He would cut these wood appropriately, then we will clean them, then he will put terra (clay) and form houses, bridges, towers, etc. on top of them. The outcome is always fantastic!

Konnichiwa! Ciro's Travel to Tokyo, Japan

Konnichiwa!

Back in 2013, Ciro went to Kyoto, Japan along with some friends to hold an exhibit about a fusion of western and oriental-inspired artworks. It was a 12-day visit that made a lasting impression for both Ciro and the guests.
His trip to the land of the rising sun was memorable. He met new friends and got acquainted with interesting stuff like Ramen, Sushi, Sumo wrestling, Sake, Samurai, Katana, Kanji, etc.

When an Italian-Artist meets the Japanese Culture it results in a magnificent display of art.

The exhibit in Kyoto showcased the curiosity of Ciro on the beauty that Japanese people appreciate. Bringing his artworks to Kyoto, he created a rapport with the Japanese curators and guests, all the more expressing fully, Belleza (beauty) through "Art".
